Barry Switzer -- or “Coach Gunsmoke” as he’s known to Randy “Fair and Biased” Galloway -- is going from being a Bootlegger’s Boy to a Boy Named Switcher.
Switzer is the Oklahoma spokesman for Alltel. Acording to the Daily Oklahoman, Alltel Wireless is running a promotion that will have the former Sooners coach change his name to Barry Switcher (for one day) if 2,500 cell phone users switch to Alltel from their current cell service.
Alltel also will donate $100 to the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation for each of the 2,500 switchers.
"It's a fun deal,” Switzer told the Oklahoman. "It's a win-win situation for everybody. I've been called worse things than Barry Switcher.”
Maybe so, but only in Austin, Lincoln, Columbia, Stillwater ...
