No. 2 South Florida's dream of a perfect season ended Thursday night with a 30-27 loss at Rutgers. Yes, another top 5 team losing to an unranked team.
Since the BCS standings came out Sunday, I've been saying that South Florida would lose at Rutgers and that Boston College _ which probably will rise to No. 2 after a bye week _ will lose at Virginia Tech next Thursday.
Thursday night ESPN games are different than Saturday games. It's particularly difficult for a highly ranked team to go on the road and beat an underdog on a Thursday night. That will be BC's challenge next Thursday. And Blacksburg can be a Thursday night black hole for visiting teams.
