Missouri will take the No. 1 ranking in the Bowl Championship Series standings into Saturday’s Big 12 Conference championship game.
The Tigers, following their 36-28 victory over second-ranked Kansas Saturday night and LSU’s loss Friday, moved up from No. 4.
Missouri (11-1) has a slight (.0068) edge on No. 2 West Virginia. Missouri is No. 1 in computer average and in the Harris Poll. West Virginia (10-1) was No. 1 in the coaches’ poll.
If the Tigers can beat Oklahoma Saturday in San Antonio and if the Mountaineers can close out their regular season with a victory over Pitt Saturday, those two teams will meet for the national championship on Jan. 7 in New Orleans.
