North Texas football is far from a hot TV commodity, but the Mean Green's five scheduled local appearances at least gave the program a modest platform. Tonight's game at Arkansas State, moved to accommodate deer season in the Jonesboro area, was scheduled as part of the Sun Belt Conference's ESPN Regional package. UNT games in the package are carried here by KTXA/Channel 21.
At some point, Channel 21 decided it couldn't pre-empt its "News in Prime" with a 1-8 UNT team and dropped the game from its schedule. ASU fans who don't brave forecasted 34-degree cold tonight will be able to stay home and watch the game. Here, you'll get reruns of The King of Queens, unless you have pay-per-view.
My advice to UNT: Never, ever bend over backward again to help a bunch of guys with rifles.
