The Coloradoan newspaper of Fort Collins, Colo., reports Wednesday that Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild has been named to succeed Sonny Lubick as head football coach at Colorado State, one of TCU's rivals in the Mountain West Conference. The report says a teleconference on the hiring is scheduled Thursday. Fairchild was a standout quarterback in his career at CSU (1978-80) and was an assistant (1993-2000) under Lubick. Fairchild played junior college football at San Diego Mesa Community College when Mike Martz was an assistant there. Lubick was not retained after 15 seasons at CSU.
