Vanderbilt freshman and former Southlake Carroll pitcher Chase Reid showed he could be headed for an immediate impact in college this season. In his debut Sunday, Reid pitched four scoreless innings of relief and had five strikeouts as Vandy knocked off Miami (Ohio) 4-3.
Reid, a right-hander, has devastating breaking stuff and could be a standout closer in college. Vandy (3-1) is ranked No. 7 in the country by Baseball America.
