Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon knows all about Iowa State at home in Hilton Coliseum and second-year coach Greg McDermott.
Turgeon played at Hilton Coliseum four times as a player with Kansas and lost all four times. He also lost his only time playing there as a head coach when Wichita State lost to the Cyclones in the first round of the NIT tournament.
Turgeon has won there twice as an assistant coach.
McDermott came from Northern Iowa, which is in the Missouri Valley Conference with Wichita State. McDermott won the last three head-to-head matchups against Turgeon and holds a 7-4 overall advantage.
"I think he's a great coach," Turgeon said. "He took over a tough situation (at Iowa State) and is building it up."
