When the Lady Aggies play Oklahoma on Thursday in the regular season finale, Texas A&M will be playing for a first round bye in the Big 12 Tournament. A win, and the Lady Aggies will finish either third or fourth in the conference, depending on what Oklahoma State does against Baylor. A loss, and Texas A&M will be fifth and will have to play on the first day of the tournament, which starts on March 11th.
Texas A&M heads into the game having won nine of its last 10 games and coach Gary Blair feels like his team is playing as well as last season, when the Lady Aggies won the Big 12 regular season title.
"And if we could finish this off Thursday (with a victory), it would probably be the best my team has ever finished the conference in any league, anywhere," Blair said. "I like how our basketball team is responding to situations in games. Somebody might go on an 8-0 run and I'm not having to panic and call a timeout. We can make adjustments on the court ourselves and wait for the media timeout."
