A small helping tonight. Some leftovers from TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle following his team's series-opening victory over New Mexico -
On the hitting and just the overall game - "I told the team after we lost on Sunday against Wichita State we had 33 at-bats and we hit the ball hard 17 times, and had six hits. I felt like tonight I was really proud of them for carrying that same approach over into tonight, and certainly we combined it with some really good pitching and some outstanding defense plays."
"I've never coached a team that ran the bases as poorly as we did, but we overcame those things."
On whether any changes were made in how they approached each at-bat - "No, no. Sunday, I was really proud of the way we swung the bat Sunday. (Matt) Carpenter's hitting .179, and he's been squaring balls up for two weeks. He finally got that line drive to go through. I was so glad to see that for him, and (Bryan) Kervin as well." -Trae Thompson
