A blog item in the Austin American-Statesman (www.statesman.com) quotes the head of the stadium complex that we're talking the "next generation" of basketball seating at an indoor football stadium when the South Regional is held at Reliant Stadium in Houston on Friday and Sunday.
At some point Monday, 11,000 tickets remained out of 43,000 seats available. The remaining seats at www.reliantpark.com were in the upper deck. Price is $165 a ticket.
Texas plays Stanford at 6:27 p.m. Friday followed by Memphis against Michigan State.
Shea Guinn told the newspaper that seats will extend down to the court in an arrangement that’s new for NCAA basketball held in stadiums. Reliant will host another regional in 2010 and then the Final Four in 2011.
You can be sure that the boys and girls at Six Flags over Jerry in Arlington will be watching the configuration with interest.
