Remember, this Frogs team was pretty bad a couple weeks into conference play. They started league play at 2-4 after losing two of three to weak UNLV. When the Frogs got back from that dreadful trip they released the bad-hitting demons.
Hitting coach Todd Whitting and the players met at Lupton Stadium the following day and he had them put all their batting gloves in a pile and burned them. No word if marshmellows were eaten. But TCU has been a different team ever since. They finished conference play by winning 17 of their next 18 games. Whitting believes they probably forgot that motivational tool within a few days. I say it was genius. It meant new batting gloves.
