Quick take: Illinois is headed in the right direction, and I like the Fighting Illini duo of Juice Williams and Arrelious Benn, but I want to see how they do in their opener with Missouri. I also want to see if they forget about last year's Rose Bowl run, or mature and try to top that. And their defense simply must improve, after allowing over 376 total yards (376.8) per game last year.
My player to watch: WR Arrelious Benn (6-2, 214). Named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Benn was an immediate weapon for the Fighting Illini. The Washington D.C. native had team highs in catches (54) and yards (676) for 2 touchdowns, had 32 carries for 158 yards and was also used on special teams. He had 10 kickoff returns for 280 yards, his longest for 90 yards, and 1 TD.
