A familiar voice will be on the airwaves this fall. Former Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione told The Bryan-College Station Eagle that he has signed a 16-game contract to be a color commentator for ESPN Radio this season. His first game will be the Alabama-Clemson matchup on Aug. 30. It's an interesting choice by the network considering the lingering disgust Crimson Tide fans still have for Fran after his abrupt 2002 departure. I lived in Alabama at the time and remember the outrage. One radio station even held a promotional event where fans were allowed to smash Coach Fran bobblehead dolls to take out their frustrations. Asking that fan base to listen to Franchione for more than three hours eclipses any punishment the NCAA ever doled out to them. Something tells me an A&M game could be on Fran's schedule at some point. Brace yourselves, Aggies fans.

Listening to his nasally voice for three hours would beat me down.
