if you havent seen the video by ou recruit josh jarboe, dont bother. it's not only tasteless (I'll shoot your axx up like a damn pool table," for instance as well as the use of several words i doubt make his family proud) it paints the talented receiver from georgia as a thug without a hint of judgement.
recall jarboe was arrested last spring and pleaded guilty to carrying a gun to school (a stolen, loaded .380 caliber automatic pistol) and carrying a pistol without a license, felony charges a judge reduced to misdeamors under a first-time offender provision, a move that allowed jarboe to keep his scholarship. the judge sentenced him to 24 months probation and 80 hours community service.
okay, people say there were circumstances, that jarboe had been threatened, etc. stoops, who has a history of going the extra mile for troubled players with mostly good results (see dusty dvoracek, lynn mcgruder), didnt yank the kid's scholarship, stating, "He understands that anything less than exemplary behavior will not be tolerated.”
obviously, jarboe did not understand anything. this video is not exemplary behavior and is in essence a left-handed backhand to the face of the coach for standing by his man. The Oklahoman's berry tramel talked to stoops about it this week and stoops' response was, "Kick a guy off the team for what he says?” stoops may have something there, but it's also apparent he has his job cut out for him with this kid. and leaves himself open to criticism, not that that has ever bothered stoops, but he's putting his fanny over the fire over a young man that at least publicly has shown no redeeming factor.
all may turn out well for everyone concerned. but knowing stoops, you have to know he's privately fried over jarboe's stupidity and rank failure to 'get it'. stoops had better watch this guy with more than his eyes. jarboe is looking at 2.5 strikes as far as im concerned.--Mike Jones.
