Baron Batch raced in from the 26 with 2:08 left as Texas Tech shakily left Jones AT&T Stadium with a 49-24 win over Eastern Washington on Saturday in its regular season opener.
Tech committed a school-record 18 penalties _ for 169 yards _ and did not look nearly as crisp as it normally does. The Red Raiders piled up 639 yards in total offense, with quarterback Graham Harrell completing 43 of 58 passes for 536 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Eric Morris caught nine passes for Tech for 164 yards, teammate Detron Lewis added nine catches for 163 yards, and Michael Crabtree also had nine receptions for 73 yards and a TD.
