Texas officials just concluded Vince Young's jersey retirement ceremony, in which the driving force behind the Longhorns' 2005 national championship took the microphone and thanked his teammates, coaches and Texas fans.
During his remarks, Young said he especially wanted to thank UT fans "for the love and support" he's received through the years.
"Y'all mean a lot to me," said Young, who will open his third season as the Tennessee Titans' QB next week. Young, who has an Austin-based charitable foundation, said he would "keep being a role model" for children as his NFL career unfolds.
Young is one of three former Longhorns who will have his football jersey number retired this season. The others will be LB Tommy Nobis and QB Bobby Layne.
