Charles Walemon "Cotton" Price, the quarterback and tri-captain of Texas A&M's 1939 national championship football team, died Wednesday morning. Price completed 20 of 47 passes for 430 yards and rushed for 135 yards during the Aggies' perfect 11-0 season.
"Price had ice water in his veins in place of blood, he was so cool and composed under pressure," former A&M assistant coach John Wesley "Dough" Rollins said in a news release from the school.
After graduating from A&M, Price served in the Navy and played one season with the Detroit Lions.
