Texas tight end Blaine Irby was carted off the field after taking a helmet to the knee from Rice's Chris Douglas on an incomplete pass. Irby's knee appeared to have bent backwards on the replay, and backup tight end Peter Ullman is in for Irby. Backup tight end Josh Marshall was injured before the season started.
With his third touchdown pass to Quan Cosby, Colt McCoy has passed Major Applewhite's school record of 60 career touchdown passes. McCoy tied the mark earlier in the game on a 60-yard flea-flicker to Jordan Shipley.
