After a scoreless third quarter, Texas extended its halftime lead on a 16-yard TD pass from QB Colt McCoy to WR Jordan Shipley. On UTEP's first snap of the ensuing drive, DE Sam Acho forced a fumble when he tackled UTEP running back Terrell Jackson. Longhorn's linebacker Roddrick Muckleroy scooped up the ball and returned it 26 yards for the team's first defensive TD of the season.
