Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp issued a statement today, saying he is not a candidate for the head coaching position at Auburn or any other jobs. Muschamp's name had surfaced in a TV report in connection with the head coaching vacancy at Auburn.
In his statement, Muschamp said: "I have not interviewed for any jobs. I'm not interested in any jobs. I'm
happy here, my family loves Austin and I'm going to be at Texas."
Muschamp, 37, was announced as the coach-designate at Texas on Nov. 18, meaning he has agreed to succeed current head coach Mack Brown at a later, unspecified date. As part of the agreement, Muschamp's annual salary will increase to $900,000 on Jan. 1, making him the highest-paid assistant in college football.
