Willie Warren, former North Crowley High School star, scored 29 points as the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners escaped an upset bid from Iowa State, winning 78-68 in Ames, Iowa.
The Sooners led by only a point, 69-68, when Austin Johnston hit a 3-pointer with 1:47 remaining. A clutch basket by Sooners star Blake Griffin (23 points) with 2 seconds on the shot clock boosted OU's lead to 74-68.
Warren's two free throws and a dunk in the final seconds by Juan Pattillo left the final score no indication of the closeness of the game.
