Once again, Stoops says he's staying

 Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops twice on Monday flatly denied he was leaving Oklahoma for Notre Dame or anywhere else.

Stoops repeatedly said he was staying at OU during an afternoon conference call with writers who regularly cover the Sooners. But he was forced later to issue a statement denying a persistent report from ESPN that he or his representative was yet in negotiations with Notre Dame officials.

“I stand by the comments that I made earlier today,” Stoops’ statement read. “I will be at Oklahoma. Any reporting to the contrary is completely unfounded.”

That "reporting" came from ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, who covers the NFL for that organization, speaking on Monday Night Countdown.

“Word sweeping the coaching circles today is that Notre Dame is interested in Bob Stoops and the interest is mutual,” Schefter said. “Even though he’s got a contract at Oklahoma that runs through 2015 and even though he said today he fully intends to be at Oklahoma next season.”

So Schefter was in essence calling Bob Stoops a liar. You be the judge as to who you want to believe. I'm going with Stoops.--Mike Jones.
