Jordan Hicks, the nation's top-rated linebacker prospect, announced today he will sign with Texas.
Hicks (6-2, 220 pounds), who played HS football in Ohio, chose Texas over Ohio State and made his announcement at a news conference today at his high school. Hicks won the 2009 Dick Butkus Award, given to the nation's top high school linebacker, and was a member of the Star-Telegram's National Top 100 recruits. He is rated as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com.
Hicks made his commtiment to the Longhorns shortly after a similar decision by Plano DE Jackson Jeffcoat, son of former Dallas Cowboys' linebacker Jim Jeffcoat. Hicks and Jeffcoat are Texas' only five-star recruits, as judged by Rivals, among this year's 24-player class.
National signing day is Wednesday.
