Texas A&M has hired three assistant football coaches, including former Aggies’ and Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker Dat Nguyen, to complete its 2010 staff, coach Mike Sherman announced today.
The hires are pending approval by the A&M board of regents, which is expected.
Nguyen, winner of the 1998 Lombardi and Bednarik awards, will oversee the Aggies’ inside linebackers _ the position he played during an All-America college career. Nguyen has spent the past three seasons as an assistant linebackers/quality control coach for the Cowboys.
Other hires include Steve Kragthorpe (wide receivers), a former A&M offensive coordinator from 1998-2000, and Nick Toth (outside linebackers).
Kragthorpe has spent the past three seasons as the head football coach at Louisville. He was the Tulsa coach before taking the Louisville job in 2007. Toth coached the defensive backs and special teams for The Citadel last season.
