Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson will be limited during spring football drills, coach Mike Sherman said today, because of minor surgery following the Aggies’ bowl game to have issues “cleaned up” in Johnson’s right shoulder.
Johnson, a senior who ranked sixth nationally in total offense last season (306 yards per game), spent most of Tuesday’s practice session working with three freshmen quarterbacks who enrolled in January. The trio includes Jamiell Showers, Clay Honeycutt and Matt Joeckel, an Arlington High School graduate.
Sherman said defensive lineman Eddie Brown also will be limited during spring drills because of off-season shoulder surgery. Sherman said he was “pleased with the energy level” during today’s initial spring workout. A&M’s spring game will be April 17 in College Station (Kyle Field, 1 p.m.).
