Kyle Winkler struck out Jarred Frierson with a 3-2 fastball to end the seventh inning with the Frogs holding a 5-2 lead. Winkler has 11 strikeouts tonight, a career-high. He struck out 10 last year against Minnesota.as a freshman.
Jantzen Witte scored from second on Bryan Holaday's two-out grounder that got by UNLV shortstop Richie Jimenez to put the Frogs up 5-2 in the sixth inning. Witte led off the inning with a four-pitch walk. He moved to second on Davey Wright's sac-bunt.
Kyle Winkler struck out two more batters, both looking at fastballs, to run his total tonight to 10, to tie his career high. Winkler's previous high this season is seven, which he collected twice, including last Friday in seven innings against Cal State Bakersfield. The Frogs come to the plate in the bottom of the sixth leading 4-2.
TCU scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. Bryan Holaday led off with a walk and Jason Coats doubled for the second time tonight, a hard shot down the third-base line that bounced off the glove of UNLV third baseman RJ Arnold. Matt Curry scored Holaday with a groundout to short and Joe Weik scored Coats with sacrifice fly to right. Taylor Featherston's two-out double chased UNLV starter Brian Gilbertson. Right-hander Chad Nading is now in the game for the Rebels.
Hunter Beaty led off the fifth with a triple to deep right-center and scored on Jarred Frierson's groundout to second to tie the game at 2-2. Winkler ended the inning with two strikeouts to give him eight in five innings tonight.
Brandon Bayardi led off the fourth inning with an infield single, reached third on a wild pitch and scored on Nolan Clark's two-out single to right to put UNLV on the board. Winkler forced a groundout to end the inning and preserve TCU's 2-1 lead.
Jason Coats scored Brance Rivera with a double off the right-field wall, Cash Clark misplayed the ball off the wall, losing his grip on the throw back in to the infield. Coats made it to third on the error. Joe Weik drove in Coats with a deep sacrifice fly to center. TCU 2, UNLV 0 (end of three)

Jantzen Witte made a spectacular catch on a foul ball down the third-base line to end the inning. Witte overran the pop up but made the circus catch bach behind his head. UNLV 0, TCU 0 (headed to bottom of the 3rd)
Joe Weik tried to score from second base on Davey Wright's chopper through the left side but Weik was thrown out at home by Rebel left-fielder Brandon Bayardi to end the inning. Weik led off the second with a single and moved to second base after Aaron Schultz singled.
