Texas A&M regent Gene Stallings now says the Big 12 staying together would "tickle me to death." This comes after a weekend when it appeared A&M was gung-ho to leave for the Southeastern Conference, contemplating overflowing football crowds every week and wiping out any athletic department deficit.
It appears to be a master stroke by Texas, if indeed this is the scenario: Keep the Big 12/10 intact, promise gobs of money for Texas, A&M and Oklahoma, and make A&M the bad guy if the Aggies decide to be the deal-breaker and go to the SEC.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma State and Oklahoma regents have scheduled meetings at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The UT System regents meet Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Kansas regents say the league can remain “extremely viable” with 10 schools, according to The Associated Press.
The Texas House has a hearing scheduled Wednesday.
