When he was the head coach at Stephenville High School from 1988 to '99, Art Briles didn't have too much to be impressed by at the sorta neighborhood college football team at TCU. That was part of the dark period of the Frogs.
But since he became the head coach at Houston in 2003 and at Baylor in in 2008, TCU has grown into a power and looks little to nothing like the team he saw when he coach at Stephenville.
"I see a real good team that is sound on both sides of the ball; it plays with a lot of confidence and very intelligently," Briles said. "I guess when you notch up a bunch of wins, that is how you become nationally ranked. They have done a good job of putting themselves to be in this situation."
