Because his team plays intra-state rivals Baylor and SMU in each of its next two games, TCU coach Gary Patterson has asked his players to stay away from the technology this week as it relates to talking to friends, and the possible future opponents this weekend and next. A lot of these players from rival teams know each other, and GP would prefer there be no pre-game trash texting.
"I told my kids to stay off the chat lines. I'm not real interested in them texting or Twittering or any of the above with people they know until after the game, Patterson said. "There doesn't have to be any more emotion. That's the way I've treated any in-state opponent."
Is that a suggestion?
"Uhh ... probably a little stronger than a suggestion," he said.
