Former Southlake Carroll QB Riley Dodge has endured quite a bit since he started at North Texas to play for his dad, Todd, who has endured worse.
But Riley Dodge deserves a lot of credit for what he did this weekend.
Dodge started the season as the third quarterback for the Mean Green, but a top receiver. Injuries have destroyed this team, and their top two QBs are out for the season putting Dodge back as the starter.
The Mean Green won their first game of the season on Saturday, 21-17, at Florida Atlantic to improve to 1-3.
Considering the circumstances, he's my Player of the Week from the state.
Dodge completed 10-of-15 passes for 146 yards and two touchdown passes. He also rushed for 67 yards.
The other player who deserves some recognition is Stephen F. Austin QB Jeremy Moses. He became the Southland Conference's all-time leader in passing yards on Saturday in a blowout against Lamar.
Moses completed 23-of-40 passes for 353 yards and four touchdowns, as he also went over the 10,000-yard mark for career total offense Saturday night.
