* This season marks the 75th anniversary of the national championships both SMU and TCU claim to have won in 1935.
TCU was named national champs by the Williamson System; SMU was named national champs by the Dickinson and Houlgate Systems.
SMU won the head-to-head game in Fort Worth, 20-14.
That game was carried live by NBC. It featured a 10-0 SMU team and an 11-0 TCU team that featured Sammy Baugh.
