Seldom in the history of ever is Northwest, Arkansas the place to be. (Actually, the University of Arkansas is located in the quaint, scenic, hilly region of Fayetteville. Any fan of anything should try to get there one day.)
This Saturday the entire world will stop when No. 1 Alabama plays the No. 10 Hogs at Razorback Stadium.
Thanks to Michigan-transfer QB Ryan Mallett, the Hogs are nationally relevant and pose a serious threat to not only defeat Alabama but win the SEC. Mallett is the top QB prospect in the nation, thanks largely to the fact that Washington QB Jake Locker went crazy awful this far.
Now, how is this game relevant to Texas?
The last time Arkansas defeated the No. 1 team in the nation at Razorback Stadium was ... Oct. 17, 1981. The Hogs were unranked and defeated the Horns, 42-11.
Cool little tidbit from the good folks at NWAoline.com:
In that 1981 game, Jay Bequette was a junior starting center for the Hogs.
On Saturday, his son, Jake Bequette, will be a junior starting defensive end for UA.
