Question: What happened today in Austin between UCLA and Texas is a productive of?
A.) UT is not that good to begin with.
B.) UCLA is improving and underrated.
C.) UT was looking ahead to next week's opponent, Oklahoma.
D.) All of the above.
Go with D (which is bad news for Texas Tech).
Texas is a young team and young teams are prone to erratic play. The receivers are young. The QB is young. A lot of key defenders are young. A buddy of mine, who is a diehard UT fan whose weekend mood is set by the play of his team, said long before the game, "This is not a top 10 team."
I have no idea what a top 10 team is these days, but Texas is not one of them.
UT QB Garrett Gilbert passed 45 times. The Horns aren't going to win leaning on him that much.
St. Mack said after the game, "It was a rear-end kicking. This one's embarrassing for me. As a head coach, I'm responsible for everybody in this program, from the trainers to the managers to the walk-ons, to the kids to the coaches -- everybody."
UCLA QB Kevin Prince passed only eight times, and the Bruins ran for 264 yards. This was the Bruins first win against a ranked team since 2007.
