TCU coach Gary Patterson spoke today of the adjustments his team has to make going outside of the state for the first time all season, such as it did last week going to Fort Collins, Colo. to play Colorado State. Some of those players, Patterson said, had never been on plane before.
And then there are those who flat out just don't like to fly. He believes those little things affect the way a team can play.
"I don't know about you guys, but there are a lot of people that don't like flying," he said. "We don't have a chance like the announcer who always drove (John Madden). We're not going to send a kid off on a Wednesday to get to Fort Collins while the rest of us fly out on Friday. We've had kids holding onto chairs as tight as they can."
"American Airlines makes it about as comfortable as you can possibly make it - that's who we charter with - so all of those things all play a part."
GP has stumbled into a new thing for coaches - product placement during press conferences.
