Two Baylor players, safety Byron Landor and punter Derek Epperson, were honored today by Big 12 officials for their role in the Bears’ 30-22 victory over Texas. The victory was Baylor's first in Austin since 1991 and kept the Bears (7-2, 4-1 in Big 12) in first place in the South Division standings.
Landor, who had 15 tackles and two pass breakukps, received defensive player of the week honors. Epperson, a Keller High School graduate who averaged 56.8 yards on four punts, received special teams player of the week honors. Nebraska tailback Roy Helu, Jr. earned the nod as offensive player of the week by rushing for a career-high 307 yards and three touchdowns in the Cornhuskers’ 31-17 victory over Missouri.
