Texas’ latest target in its search to fill its vacancy for an offensive line coach appears to be Georgia’s Stacy Searels. Multiple internet sites have identified Searels, who spent the 2003-06 seasons at LSU, as someone high on Texas coach Mack Brown’s radar screen although a formal interview – at this juncture – has yet to be confirmed.
Brown interviewed Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes for the vacancy last week but Grimes announced Sunday that he will remain at Auburn. Oklahoma State offensive line coach Joe Wickline also has said he will stay at his school. The latest crop of candidates, along with Searels, includes Arkansas’ Chris Klenakis, Boise State’s Chris Strausser and Vanderbilt’s Herb Hand. Searels played college football at Auburn, where he blocked for 1985 Heisman Trophy winner Bo Jackson.
