Bennie Wylie has been hired as Texas’ new strength and conditioning coach, school officials announced today.
Wylie, a Mexia native who played running back at Sam Houston State, spent last season at Tennessee and was on Texas Tech’s staff for seven seasons under former Red Raiders’ coach Mike Leach.
Before his tenure at Tech, Wylie was an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Dallas Cowboys for four seasons, dealing primarily with the rehabilitation of injured players. During his days with the Cowboys, he also oversaw the strength and conditioning program for the Dallas Desperados, an arena football team that played during the spring and was the property of Cowboys.
