You have to wonder if Baylor will skip the NIT after the Bears lost against Oklahoma 84-67 in the first round of the Big 12 tourney. Baylor's season needs to be put out of its misery today. This team may not have been in the same zip code as last season's Elite 8 Bears team, but they weren't this bad. At least not on paper.
Yes, the pregame suspension of NBA-bound Perry Jones was a killer, but Wednesday's game was reflective of Baylor's whole season. The Bears have been a mess.
Oklahoma, which improved to 13-17, led by 17 points at the half. OU's Cade Davis scored 24 points, and guard Carl Blair scored 16 points with 11 assists and 6 rebounds.
On a sidenote, why did the NCAA wait until a few hours before tipoff before making this decision? The NCAA says Jones received improper benefits (a cute way to say money) from his AAU coach. How does any teenager who is projected as a lottery pick in the NBA not take "improper benefits"?
Baylor is going to appeal this suspension so Jones can play a game or two in the NIT before he jumps to the NBA.
