The deadline for college basketball players to make their preliminary declarations on the NBA draft is midnight Sunday, with a final declaration day of May 8.
A number of high-profile players have already declared one way or the other, the Texas Longhorns trio the exception so far. But I’d expect Jordan Hamilton, Tristan Thompson and Cory Joseph to make their intentions known before the weekend.
My guesses on each?
Hamilton declares he’s all-in and hires an agent. Thompson, whose stock has risen to maybe the top 12 with a declared return of some others who might be in that mix, will officially explore without hiring representation. That leaves Longhorns fans a few more days to ponder his future. I’d say 60-40 he goes, but that’s just a guess. Joseph? I think he will explore the possibilities and decide to return.
Stay tuned, but not for long.—Mike Jones.
