Demetri Goodson, brother of former Texas A&M and current Carolina Panthers running back Michael Goodson, will transfer to Baylor to play football after being the starting point guard for the Gonzaga men's basketball team the past two seasons.
KRIV-TV in Houston reported Goodson's decision over the weekend and ESPN and CBS Sports have been those picking up the news item.
Goodson hasn't played football in five years, since his sophomore season at Klein Collins High School in suburban Houston, KRIV reported. After three seasons at Gonzaga in basketball, he says he would have two seasons of college football eligibility remaining.
He figures to play defensive back in football, a sport in which he told KRIV he figures to have a better chance at success as a professional.
"Baylor seemed like they were interested from the start so what’s why I stuck with them," Goodson told KRIV. "I went up to talk with coach (Art Briles) and he seemed like a really cool guy"
Goodson averaged 5.2 points and 2.6 assists for Gonzaga last season.
