Rangers reliever Mark Lowe, like any former UT-Arlington athlete would be, is pumped about the Mavericks’ move to the WAC.
The money, and equally importantly the publicity the move brings is good reason for the newfound excitement, Lowe said.
While the move will bring more exposure, Lowe said the new competition would pose a big test for the Mavs for the first few seasons.
"It will be challenge for them in the beginning but after a while, they will be fine," said Lowe, who pitched for UTA in 2002 and was drafted by Seattle in 2004.
"It is definitely going to bring more recruits in."
As for the new arena on Pecan Street?
Lowe hasn't had a chance to check out the Mavs' new digs but said once it opens, he plans on making his way back to campus.
"I am going to check it out - there's not doubt about it," he said. "I am gonna go see a game there for sure."
