Texas named Garrett Gilbert as its starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against Rice on the school’s initial depth chart of the season, released today by school officials.
Gilbert, who started every game during last year’s 5-7 season, will be backed up by sophomore Case McCoy. Freshman David Ash or redshirt freshman Connor Wood is listed as the third-teamer.
