Texas’ starting quarterback battle remains a four-man competition heading into Thursday’s final scrimmage of fall drills, said Bryan Harsin, the Longhorns’ co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Harsin said today that his four candidates, including incumbent Garrett Gilbert, made positive strides in Friday’s closed scrimmage. Harsin said deciding on a starter has been “very difficult” and that coaches “still have to let these guys continue to battle” in Thursday’s final scrimmage, which will include more specific game-planning than previous scrimmages.
