Texas co-offensive coordinator Major Applewhite said both of the team’s heralded incoming freshman tailbacks, Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron, had “a great day” in Friday’s closed scrimmage.
Applewhite, would also is the Longhorns’ running backs coach, said today he is “cautiously optimistic” about the Longhorns’ chances to improve last year’s inconsistent, substandard ground game.
“We’ve got some guys that have done some great things running the ball, some great things out there blocking, but I want to see it live,” Applewhite said. “We know what we're capable of, but we just want to see it live.”
Texas’ final scrimmage of fall drills is scheduled Thursday.
