Texas has moved Bryant Jackson, a redshirt freshman, from defensive back to receiver to bolster the numbers in the Longhorns’ depleted receiver corps, a school spokesman confirmed today. Jackson (6-foot-2, 191 pounds) earned all-state honors at receiver during 2009 at Sulphur Springs, where he caught 54 passes for 748 yards and eight touchdowns for the Class 4A Division II state champs. Texas’ receiver corps has been hit hard by attrition, losing four receivers since June who projected to be on the team coming out of spring drills. Jackson’s move gives Texas an eight-member receiver corps, as currently configured.
