Two players from Tarrant County high schools shared the Big 12 special teams player of the week honor announced today by league officials.
Baylor kicker Aaron Jones, a Crowley graduate, made the winning field goal with 1:04 remaining in the Bears' 50-48 upset of No. 14 TCU. Oklahoma State kicker/punter Quinn Sharp made four field goals and six PATs in the Cowboys' 61-34 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette.
Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, who threw for 359 yards and five touchdowns in the Bears' victory over TCU, received offensive player of the week honors. Defensive honors went to Texas A&M’s Tony Jerod-Eddie, who had three sacks in a 46-14 rout of SMU.
