Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III was selected today as the national offensive player of the week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Griffin broke his own school single-game records for passing yards (479) and total offense (551 yards) while leading the Bears to a 45-38 upset of then-No. 5 Oklahoma that ended the Sooners’ national championship hopes. Griffin, who threw for four touchdowns without an interception, completed the game-winning, 34-yard scoring strike to Terrance Williams with eight seconds remaining. It marked Griffin’s second player of the week selection this season.
The weekly defensive honor went to Houston linebacker Sammy Brown, who had 10 tackles and three sacks in the Cougars’ 37-7 victory over SMU that kept Houston (11-0, 7-0 in Conference USA) in the mix for a BCS bowl berth.
