Texas receiver Jaxon Shipley (right knee), the team’s leading receiver, will not play in Saturday’s game at Missouri, team trainers announced today.
Shipley (33 catches, 438 yards, 3 TDs) will not accompany the team on its road trip to Columbia, Mo. for the 11 a.m. contest between No. 16 Texas (6-2, 3-2 in Big 12) and Missouri (4-5, 2-4). It will mark the second consecutive missed game for Shipley, who injured the knee in the team’s 43-0 victory over Kansas on Oct. 29.
Shipley’s spot in the lineup is expected to be taken by DeSean Hales (1 catch, 5 yards), with Miles Onyebugle, a freshman from Arlington High School, listed as the primary backup.
Offensive guard Sedrick Flowers (shoulder), the backup to starter Mason Walters at right guard, also will miss the trip because of injury, trainers announced.
