If you’re buying in to Jerry Palm’s latest projections (and he’s usually solid in predicting BCS developments, that means the Big 12 will send two teams to BCS games and will fill all eight bowl slots later today.
It also means Baylor will wind up playing in the Cotton Bowl against Arkansas. That projection jives with what I’ve been hearing from Cotton folks if K-State wound up in BCS mix.
Here’s the latest from Palm, who anticipates an LSU-Alabama matchup in the BCS National Championship Game, with Oklahoma State headed to the Fiesta Bowl and Kansas State to the Sugar Bowl.
If OSU makes it to the BCS title game against OSU (still possible, depending on what Harris Poll voters decide), that probably shifts Kansas State to the Fiesta Bowl. But the Wildcats would remain in the BCS mix.
As of 2:30 p.m. today, here are Palm’s latest projections for key matchups:
BCS bowl lineup:
BCS Championship Game: LSU-Alabama
Orange: Clemson-West Virginia
Sugar: Kansas State-Michigan
Fiesta: Oklahoma State-Stanford
Rose: Wisconsin-Oregon
TCU bowl matchup:
Poinsettia Bowl: TCU-Louisiana Tech
Big 12 bowls (non-BCS games):
Cotton: Baylor-Arkansas
Alamo: Oklahoma-Washington
Insight: Texas-Iowa
Holiday: Missouri-California
Meineke Car Care of Texas: Texas A&M-Northwestern
Pinstripe: Iowa State-Rutgers
