Oklahoma State kicker Quinn Sharp, a Mansfield Summit grad, has been named the Big 12’s Special Teams Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III was named the Offensive Player of the Year while two players – Iowa State linebacker A.J. Klein and Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander – shared Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Kansas State coach Bill Snyder was named coach of the year.
Baylor offensive lineman Robert T. Griffin (Euless Trinity), Texas A&M offensive lineman Luke Joeckel (Arlington) and Oklahoma defensive back Jamell Fleming (Arlington Seguin) were second-team selections.
The All-Big 12 Conference football teams and individual award winners have been announced. Selections are made by the league’s 10 head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own players.
